I hope to be able to continue to enjoy owning and driving fast, powerful, beautiful cars LIKE THE TWIN TURBO Z into my 80s, or as long as my body and mind allow. If it's a question of status (e.g. "Does this car confer the appropriate level of status on an owner who is XX years old?"), that's a different question, whose answer depends largely on the condition of the car, but also on the condition of the owner There's no denying that consumer culture encourages the view of toys as status symbols. Fortunately, the TT Z has all the right ingredients to age gracefully into CLASSIC status. But, if you're lucky, your car becomes less of a priority as you age, in terms of things that confer status. Bigger, more expensive toys appeal to some. Some become fixated on them. But ideally, your status emanates from the quality of your character -- how you manage your responsibilities, use your talents, give and accept love, and all the other ways that connect you with your fellow inhabitants of this time/space. (No, I'm not old enough to be a hippie. But I sometimes think like one.) In the end, only YOU can decide whether your car fits your self-image. I'd love to own a 911 (almost bought one instead of the Z!). Maybe I will, some day. But it won't be because I feel I'm too old for the Z. When I'm too old for the Z, I'll be too old for the 911 too.
